Reclaiming Focus: A Personal Approach
After reading Stolen Focus, I took immediate action to reclaim my focus and promote a healthierWLB . Here’s how I implemented the insights from the book into my daily life:

🔒 Digital Detox
I decided to remove Facebook and other social media apps from my phone to reduce distractions and minimize the influence of constant notifications. By limiting my exposure to these platforms, I found myself more focused on tasks at hand and less scrolling through endless feeds.
I want to leverage my Dopamine to internally drive myself, not to fuel external services.
⏰ Notification Management
I muted most of my notifications, including email alerts and messaging updates. This allowed me to prioritize my time andfocus on essential tasks without being constantly interrupted by minor distractions.
🧠 Encouraging Learning and Creativity
Instead of implementing shorter work days, I introduced a weekly routine where every other Friday, I encouraged my direct reports to focus on side projects they choose. This approach allowed them to learn something new and engaging while fostering creativity within the team. It also provided much-neededbreaks from daily tasks and added value to their professional development.
📚 Conclusion
In summary, by taking proactive steps like removing social media apps, managing notifications, and promoting learning through side projects, I have been able to reclaim my focus and maintain a healthier work-life balance.
The insights from Stolen Focus have not only helped me but also inspired me to advocate for systemic change in our work environment and beyond.
